Dator Overview:
Dator is a powerful Data Organization solution unlike anything
else in existence today. We at HukSoft! created Dator as a means
to simplify the storing and organization of your information.
We all have so many files and so much information to keep track
of these days, it's nearly impossible to remember where we've
saved everything! How many times have you lost an important password,
document, image or other important file?
Wouldn't it be nice to know exactly where every file you have
is stored without having to search your hard drive?
We thought so, too. So we created a solution.
How it works:
Information saved within Dator is stored in what we call "databooks."
Each databook is an independant file from any other databook.
Within a databook, you can store not only text information, such
as your bank information, appointments, work projects, to-do lists,
schedule and other text records, but you can attach any type of
file to any databook as well.
How many times have you saved a file only to realize later when
you needed it, that you couldn't remember where you'd saved it?
Well, with Dator, that is an issue of the past.
Just a few examples of Dator's many uses:
Password Storage and Protection: Store all your passwords within
a password protected databook. Never lose a password again.
Project organization: Collect all documents and files of all
types related to your current project into one databook.
Recipes: Store all your favorite recipes and photos, as well
as tips and tricks in their own databooks, then store the databooks
in your recipes folder.
Journal: Type your personal journal in a Dator databook and
password protect it for ultimate privacy.
Travel Journal: Save and protect your treasured thoughts and
experiences as well as your digital photos in their own databooks.
Professional writing: Write a book and store each chapter and
notes in its own databook
Internet Bookmark Storage, independant of browser preference.
Anything you can think of can be stored in Dator. Anything.
The documents you create with Dator can be formatted with a wide
variety of word processor functions, including font, paragraph
and document formatting, hypertext links, import of images, tables.
The Dator document model stores not only text like a standard
Word docoment, but files of any type can also be saved as attachments
to your documents as well as saved in their own databooks.
In additon to the textual representation of a Dator document,
any number of files can be added to the document. These files
will be attached to the document and are always available when
the document is viewed. There is no need to remember where certain
files are stored on the hard drive, as everything will be organized
by Dator.
Protecting your databooks:
To restrict access to specific documents, all you need to do is
set a password for that document. You may use a separate password
for each document or the same password for all documents. Protected
documents, as well as their attachments, cannot be viewed unless
the correct password is entered.
Storing your important files within a protected Dator document
negates the need to keep the original files on the harddisk and
therefore no need for any further safety precautions.
By means of rich-text tools (similar to Windows' Word Pad), text
can be formatted using a wide variety of functions: font formatting,
paragraph formatting, page formatting, lists and tables. The databooks
are organized in an easy to navigate treeview, which allows you
to create as many folders as you need, with as many sub-folders
as you need within each folder.
